Born in Madrid in 1972.


Professor (Catedrático de Universidad), Depto. de Matemática Aplicada a las TIC, ETSI Telecomunicación, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (since 2016).

He is currently the vice-dean in charge of PhD Studies at ETSIT-UPM (since 2013).

Previous positions:

  • Associate Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad), Depto. de Matemática Aplicada a las TTI/TIC, ETSI Telecomunicación, UPM (2001-2016).
  • Assistant Professor (Profesor Ayudante Doctor), Depto. de Matemáticas, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2000-2001).

  • PhD in Mathematics (Doctor en Ciencias Matemáticas), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, 2000.

    Outstanding PhD Award (Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado) of UPM.

  • MSc in Telecommunication Engineering (Ingeniero de Telecomunicación; six-year degree), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, 1997.
  • MSc in Mathematics (Licenciado en Ciencias Matemáticas; five-year degree), Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 1996.

    Top 2% in both MSc's.


    He has published a book and more than forty papers in JCR journals. Find details following the links in the main page. He is currently a member of the editorial board of two international journals and a book series.

    More than twenty invited talks in international conferences or in research seminars of foreign universities. He has attended around thirty conferences or workshops since 1998.  Some publications in conference proceedings can be found here.

    He has taken part in nearly fifteen funded research projects.

    Research/Technological Development award for young professors from Fundación General UPM (2005).


    He has been teaching in undergraduate programs since 1999, and both in undergrad and graduate studies since 2004.
